Abstract

Preparations contain inactivated and lysed bacteria from Staphylococcus aureus (I); Pseudomonas aeruginosa (II); Haemophilus influenzae (III); Diplococcus pneumoniae (IV); Branhamella catarrhalis (V) and Serratia marcescens (IV). They are esp. useful in the treatment of respiratory tract infections. Synergism between the bacteria leading to increased stimulation of colloidopexic activity of the reticulo-endothelial system, and production of interferon. Pref. ratios of bacteria are 20-33% (I) and (IV); 22-36% (II); 4-7% (III) and (IV) and 5-10% (V). In an example a compsn. contained per unit dose, (I) 250 million germs; (II) 200 million germs; (III) 100 million germs; (IV) 200 million germs; (V) 100 million germs; (VI) 150 million germs. All of these germs were inactivated, usually by heat and lysed.
