Abstract
Water retainer for plant roots in pervious soil comprises a flattened blader. This is pref. made of polyethylene with spacer elements, pref. gravel, enclosed between its two surfaces. One of the surfaces is provided with perforations. The edges of the blader may be extended by a projection which is closed at its end. Diametrically opposite this projection on the edge of the bladder is an open projection in which is inserted a metal bar, pref. Cu, which is exposed to the sun's rays to heat up the water contd. in the bladder and the air contd. in the closed projection, causing the water in the bladder to rise up through the soil around the plant by capillary action. The soil around the plant above the bladder is sprinkled with fertiliser, then with plenty of water contg. mineral salts, which are entrained by the water rising up from the bladder.
