Abstract

Portion distributor comprises a hopper fixed above a belt conveyor, two elongated, star-shaped rollers, rotating in opposite directions on parallel shafts, fit partially inside the semi-cylindrical seatings. Each of the rollers has four summits with curced surfaces in between. During the synchronous rotation of the rollers, the edges of the opposite summits practically touch each other at every quarter turn and receive the paste leaving the distribution conduit of the hopper. This mass of paste is cut off from the remainder as the edges come together, as the rollers turn, another portion of the paste will be detached by the coming together of the next pair of edges and so on. The vol. of paste thus transported does not under go any mixing but only a limited amount of deformation, which does not alter its characteristics. Appts. is simple because the same components which proportion the paste cut into portions which are constant and precise.
