Abstract

The cine projection system is used to enhance the realism of a film, by a use of additional visual effects, creating a feeling of the environment being shown in the film. The cine film is directed from a main projector (8) onto a screen (10) at the front of the auditorium, while an additional projector(s) (3) are used to project vague images, giving the impression of snow, fire etc. onto the surrounding walls (5) and/or ceiling (11) of the auditorium, the additional projector (3) having a much wider projection angle. The same visual effects system can also be used for a live performance and the image on each frame of the film strip (a) used in the visual effects projector (3) is masked in the centre to prevent a conflicting image being directed onto the screen (10) or stage.
