Abstract

Process and plant is intended for stripping waste water of pathogenic micro-organisms which cause illness of men and animals. It is also for use in removing harmful chemicals and decomposing them into simple materials which are nontoxic at high temps. The plant comprises a reservoir fitted with a pipe to a steam injection appts; this is operated periodically to heat the waste water to a temp. below 100 degrees C. The is connected to a similar steam injector; the outlet is connected to a tubular coil which maintain the heated waste water in a current under press. The length of the coil is sufficient to effect the complete decontimanation from microorganisms contd. in the liq. and in the dispersed inclusions. The reservoir is connected by a pipe to a heat exchanger which in turn connects with the outlet of the coil. The maintain the temp. in the coil above 100 degrees C the flow is controlled by a device under an excess press. supplied by a pump. The process is largely used in veterinary and medical microbiology, in the mfr. of biological prepns., in agriculture and in the public health service, as well as for dealing with the stock-farming prods. It continuously inactivates spore-forming micro-organisms and those which multiply by budding.
