Abstract

The shoe or sandl is made from injection moulded pieces consisting of an interlocking toe portion (2), heel portion (3) and arch-shaped member (4) to support the arch of the foot. The arch member has sets of slots (9, 10, 11) into which fit ribs (6) on the toe portion and further ribs (8) on the heel section. The toe portion has a flat region merging into an upwardly sloping part carrying the ribs (6) and matching the front of the arch. The heel portion is curved underneath, and carries curved ribs (8) and matches the rear part of the arch. The rear end face of the arch rests on the ground. The toe portion incorporates a set of ventilation holes. The edges of the toe and heel portions fit against a locating pad on the arch, so form a continuous foot supporting surface.
