Abstract

Shutter for window or French windows comprise two identical half-shells made of material which is insensitive to atmospheric conditions, pref. glass-fibre-reinforced polyester resin, placed face to face and joined together at their edges. The space between them is completely closed, forming a heat and sound barrier between the atmosphere and the window, and is pref. filled by injecting an insulating material e.g. polyurethane foam or urea-formaldehyde. Each half-shell may be made by moulding, with series of parallel horizontal indentations to simulate the appearance of horizontal slats, when seen in vertical section, has the shape of a series of Z's superimposed on and connected to each other over at least a portion of its height. A covering plate may be attached to the shutter by welding or adhesion.
