Abstract

The system for handling precast units (14) between a casting bed (B) and a storage area uses a mobile hoist (10) and a crane (F1). During the process the unit, which is lying horizontally, is subjected to an initial vertical translation, then pivoted to the vertical positions, and finally transported and placed on edge in the storage area. The units may be cast at longitudinal intervals between the tracks of a railway which is traversed by a mobile hoist (10). The initial vertical translation may be achieved by the hoist and the crane, engaging lifting eye on the opposed longitudinal extremities of the precast unit, and lifting simultaneously.
