Abstract
The parallelism of the front wheels of a vehicle is checked by detecting the angle between each wheel and the longitudinal axis. This is performed without the need for a special test location by a luminous projector mounted on each wheel and which gives a direct reading of angle. A luminous projector (1) is mounted on a support (2) which permits mounting of the assembly on each front wheel (3) of a vehicle. The support on each projector carries a bar (4) extending towards the front and on which a mirror (5) is mounted to reflect a luminous spot (A, B) towards a graduated scale (6). The mirrors pivot around their vertical axes (7) and are connected together by a flexible coupling bar (8)with a spring (9). Each bar contains a spirit level ensuring that the horizontal axis is maintained.
