Abstract

Articles to be dried are introduced into an oven through a first opening and are carried to a second entrance admitting drying gas (air), which is blown across the articles in countercurrent. The articles leave the drier at the second entrance. The gas is (partly) recycled after (part of) the moisture collected by it has been condensed. The latent heat so released is used to reheat the exchanger-evaporator of the cooling plant. The plant also a compressor, several condenser exchangers and an expansion device. The drying air admitted near the second entrance, is then reheated by contact with one of the condenser-exchangers and further heated and mixed inside the drier by the others. Used for mfr. of plaster tiles, cement or concrete moulds unfired ceramics, etc. Energy consumption is appreciably reduced and the effluent is non-pollutant, both chemically and thermally.
