Abstract

The packing has a casing (2) of semi-rigid material formed by folding a flat sheet, and a number of battens (8). The battens are preferably mounted vertically at the corners, and both act as aids for assembly after the pan els of the sheet have been folded into position, and provide strength for the packing to resist crushing. The sheet can have a central rectangular portion with rectangular extensions to the four sides, one pair of opposite extensions (4) being narrower than the other (5). The battens are fixed to the ends of the narrower extensions, and their length is equal to the width of the wider ones.
