Abstract

The machine is for picking beans and similar crops from plants standing in the field, having a frame accommodating a toothed picker drum rotating on a horizontal axis and partly enclosed by a cowl on the forward side. In operation, the drum teeth pass upwards inside the cowl, and a feed device is mounted in front of it to deflect the plants towards it. The device is in the form of a drum (9) on an axis at least nearly horizontal, and rotating in the opposite direction to the picker drum (3). A guide (23, 24, 33) for the deflected plants is provided between the drums. The feed drum can be driven at an appreciably slower speed than the picker drum.
