Abstract

The electrical fuse is for use in general wiring arrangements such as printed circuits etc., but is particularly intended for motor vehicle circuits. The design is such as to minimise the need for spare fuses, insomuch as it is reversible, and it may be used twice. The fusible material is laid on the surface of a solid symmetrical insulator (1) in the form of an 'H'. The centre bar of the 'H' is wide enough to allow two fusible surfaces (4) to be used. The fusible surfaces are spaced by a centre isolating region. In the event of a fuse 'blowing' the element is replaced in its reversed position. A further form approximately square in shape may be used. This square shaped fuse has four fusible elements and may be placed in four different positions.
