Abstract

Compsns. are partic. for use as catalysts contg. a metal, part. a transition metal, coordination complex attached to a carrier which comprises or carries an intermediate layer of a solid mineral material insol. in org. solvents, which is partially coated with a polysiloxane to which the coordinating groups of the metal complex are grafted. The catalysts are used for hydrogenation of olefines. Transition metal catalysts have previously been expensive and, owing to their solubility, were not recoverable from org. liq. systems. The present catalysts are equally effective, insol. and can be easily recovered for re-use.
