Abstract

A hinged (6) clamp (5, 7) is held on the pipe by a screw (14), a plastic washer (15) being fitted on the screw between the jaws to limit the grip. One of the jaws (5) is threaded (8) to take the mounting thread (9) of the tap (1) and a tubular extension (2) of the latter has a cutting edge (3) formed on its end so that when screwed on, a hole is pierced in the pipe (4). The same jaw also has a square cut out (10) into which is fitted a junction piece (11) on the same axis as the mounting thread. This junction piece is hollow and the face in contact with the tapped face of the jaw carries a seal (12).
