Abstract

The screws (3) are fed horizontally from a magazine, or an earlier procrss, down an inclined chute (9). At the bottom of the chute is a wide wheel (7), cogged around its circumference to provide recesses (8) into which the screws drop; one screw in each recess. As the wheel rotates, each screw is fed between the parallel portions (1a, 2a) of two endless belts (1, 2) of rubber or similar material, running over rollers (5). Each screw is gripped by the ends, aided by a back plate (4) on each side, and passed over the provessing station (10), spaced the correct distance apart and parallel to each other.
