Abstract

A laminated rubber sheet for lining the interior surface of pneumatic tyre carcasses, consists of one layer of a natural or synthetic rubber which is strongly adhesive, and a second layer of a relatively impermeable synthetic rubber. The lining is laid up as >=2 superimposed layers. The laminate is esp. suitable for tubeless tyres, but may be used for tubed tyres, to inhibit penetration of the carcass structure by pressurised air, and consequent delamination within the carcass. The bonding layer is of natural rubber, the impermeable layer of butyl-, chlorobutyl- or bromo-butyl rubber.
