Abstract
Device facilitating the welding of metal or other parts to form an assembly with a mitred angle or a butt joint, the novelty being that the two legs, forming the jig and carrying supporting surfaces, are connected by a part which can form a handle and leaves a gap at the junction of the two legs, the gap providing access for the flame of the welding appts. so that a weld bead or seam can be laid in a continuous fashion without interruption. The part joining the two legs is pref. a yoke, or bracket and the supporting surfaces are pref. provided with permanent magnets in insulating sheaths. The yoke or bracket pref. includes a hinge so the angle between the two legs can be carried and then clamped, esp. using a scale to indicate the angle. A row of welding jigs can be used to locate two parts being welded, leaving unrestricted access for the welding flame from a torch.
