Abstract

A floating platform for undersea exploration and the extraction of oil and gas, has the general appearance of a hollow ring, but is not necessarily circular, that it may be elliptical or polygonal. Part of the interior of the ring which has a rectangular section is equipped as reservoirs for storing oil and liquids gas, whilst the centre cavity is bridge by a plate on which a drilling rig may be erected. Equipment is further provided for autopropulsion or dynamic location, as well as for gas separation and liquefaction. The platform has great natural isotropic stability against sea swell, and has large capacity reservoirs for the products. The central recess with the erection plate for the drilling rig, etc., collects any escaping oil so that it can be easily recovered.
