Abstract

To produce a continuous moving strip (12) of concrete of uniform breadth and thickness, the strip is sandwiched between two continuous strips of a supply sheet fabric (28, 46). This is principally used for the mfr. of robust pipes by the spiral winding of the strip onto of cylindrical mandrel (4). The strip travels between the prodn. station and the rotating mandrel in the form of a conveyor belt, and are then wound onto the mandrel to abut edge to edge. The mandrel can be a temporary or permanent former, and wire reinforcement can be provided between the mandrel and the strip, or between successive strip layers. The sandwiching sheets are pref. of natural or mineral fibres.
