Abstract

The femur neck osteosynthesis splint has a pin (5) engaging in the femur head and a diaphysal plate (6) at an obtuse angle to each other. The pin and the plate are joined to each other by a malleable intermediate portion (7), typically S-shaped. The rear end of the pin, i.e. that remaining outside the bone, can have a transverse drilling whose diameter is larger than that of a standard pin into which a Kirschner pin is fitted. The instrument for fitting the splint can have a rod with one end hollowed out so as to fit over the rear end of the pin. It is fixed to the latter by a transverse key, so that the base of the hollowed-out portion bears against the pin rear end.
