Abstract

Controlled-rate insecticide dispenser comprising a packing contg. a layered insecticide dispenser contg. (A) >=1 internal layers of solid matter comprising >=1, opt. plasticised vinyl polymers homogeneously impregnated with (B); an active liq. having a vapour press. at 20 degrees C of 0.001 mmHg. comprising >=1 insecticides other than a vinyl phosphate and opt. an insect attractant, the liq. (B) not being a solvent for the polymer (A) and being present in a ratio of A:B = 1:0.1 to 2 w/w; and (C) two external layers situated on each side of (A) comprising a pliable solid which is >=1 opt. plasticised polymers insoluble in the active liq. but permeable to it, having a thickness of 10-250 mu m, is prepd. by (a) placing the layered appts. of internal layer (A), unimpregnated by active liq. (B) and the two external layers (C) surrounding (A) inside a packing matl. impermeable to the active liq. and with a vol. sufficient for the active liq. to be in contact with at least part of the layered appts.; (b) adding the liq. (B) to the container, closing and sealing the container and storing the assembly at 20-80 degrees C for a period, of >=1 day, which is inversely proportional to the temp. The difficulty of sticking a polymer impregnated with insecticidal liq. to the external, unimpregnated but permeable layers is avoided.
