Abstract

Catheter consists of a flexible tube having a central section with a constant bore, a conical front end, and its other end connected in a liq.-tight manner with an intake sleeve widening out conically to its open end. The sleeve is connected at such an angle to the catheter boring that a part of the conical cover lies parallel to the axis of the catheter coring. An intermediate piece of semi-rigid resilient matl. is inserted in the conical sleeve, and the front end of a liq. pipe is received in the conical boring of this piece. A pointed needle is slidably received in the catheter boring, and lies on the conical cover part of the sleeve that lies in the same plane as the catheter axis. The length of the needle is such, that when it is arranged in the catheter, it passes through the central section the sleeve and the catheter boring, with its point projecting over the front end of the catheter. The needle is slidably held between the outer-face of the intermediate piece and the wall of the sleeve with with its central section penetrating the inserted part of the intermediate piece adjacent to the catheter boring, this part being resiliently compressed to a desired degree. The angle enclosed between the axis of the conical sleeve and the axis of the catheter is such that the front end of a liq. pipe can be easily inserted and fastened within the boring of the intermediate piece. After the needle is withdrawn from the catheter boring, the intermediate piece springs back into a liq.-tight posn. on the conical boring of the sleeve. Device is very easily operated and controlled, the needle acting as seal during the injection or withdrawal of liqs.
