Abstract

This stepping motor for use with machin tools is a combination of two stepping motors. The first (M2), which has a 10X stepping rate compared to the second (M1), is formed as an extension to the rotor shaft of the second motor. In this way the rotor will turn at 10x the speed of the fine adjustment motor but will give the same eventual location accuracy of the fine adjustment motor. The motors are driven by rings and collectors from two indenpendent clock generators, decade counters and comparators. The fine adjustment motor receives the unity counts whilst the other motor is driven by the 'multiples of ten' counts.
