Abstract

The thermostat consists of a stack of bi-metal washers, the upper end of which is attached to the end cap. The lower end of the stack is attached to a valve head with a conical seating surface which co-operates with the valve seat. The bolt which passes through the bi-metal washers has its upper end attached to the control knob and its lower end secures the piston and valve head. With increasing temperature of the water passing over the thermostat to the mixing outlet the thermostat lifts the valve heads and to increase the cold flow and reduce the hot flow, and so tends to keep the temperature constant.
