Abstract

The improvement is in the design of dynamo brakes using the Foucault current principle. Two pressed plates are shaped and welded together to form radial passages(13). Of the passages one is used as an admission tube for passing grease in, and one as an evacuating tube for passing it out. The two passages are 90 deg. apart and are inclined at 45 deg. to the horizontal. Both are on the same side of the retarder the admission tube being at the bottom while the evacuation tube at the top. This enables the bearings to be easily lubricated.
