Abstract

The vehicle engine power take off has a support shoe joined rigidly to the engine which supports a bearing co-axial to the engine camshaft. There is a shaft kept in this bearing to turn freely in it and a coupling between it and the camshaft. The shaft after the camshaft is carried in two bearings mounted in a groove in the support shoe on the engine to which it is bolted. The coupling is a sliding type with hemispherical exterior surfaces, play with the hub being adjusted with a screw pressing on the shaft. The system may be used to drive a compressor with a uniform resistance coupling.
