Abstract

A heat exchanger comprises connection headers made of moulded cast iron which have on one side engagement bosses for flat tubes which connect 2 boxes between each other, these tubes supporting heat dissipating fins. The bosses for tube connections have a hard shoulder to limit the entry of the tube, a joint between the bosses and tube being made by hard soldering. On the opposite side to the tube bosses the connection header boxes have stumps for connecting supply pipes, purgers and drain plugs. Each header box is made up of connecting elements each having a tube engagement boss and inner communication channel. Connecting elements are coupled by open or closed sleeves engaged in corresponding communication channels of adjacent elements, these communication channels having machined shoulders for the sleeves to sit on. The fins have notches opening on one of their edges, the inlet of the notch being enlarged so that the fins slide onto the flat tubes.
