Abstract
An anti-vibration mounting rod, particularly suitable for engine mountings in motor vehicles, has a sleeve (3) isolated from vibrations of a surrounding sleeve (5) by the interposition of an elastomeric bush (4). The bush is retained in position by having an annular groove in its outer surface which locates on a press formed annular projection (6) in the outer sleeve. When assembled, the bush is in compression between the inner and outer sleeves and is held firmly in position. The end of the shaft (1) which is welded to the outer sleeve has a conically formed end to match the otuer surface of the press formed groove, so increasing the contact area and the strength of the joint.
