Abstract

The record player deck has a cover (11), which is automatically locked in the closed position, during reproduction of signals from a record disc placed on the turntable, by using the position of the tone arm (17), which is movable from a rest position at the side of the turntable horizontally across the surface of the record during play-back, to operate the locking device. The cover (11) is released by depressing a release button which is selectively coupled with the catch release for the cover, in dependence on the position of the tone arm so that the depression of the release button when the tone arm is in the play-back position does not cause the catch to release.
