Abstract
The machine has two wheels mounted on parallel shafts one above the other and immersed in a vessel full of water. An endless belt passes round both wheels and a number of baskets at equally spaced intervals are attached to the belt. Each basket contains an air bag of flexible material and a heavy weight. When the baskets are so arranged that the weight is uppermost, it compresses the air bag and decreases its volume so that the basket tends to sink. When the basket passes round the lower wheel its attitude is reversed with the weight below the air bag which then expands and floats upward exerting an upward force on the belt.
