Abstract

The connector for fibre optic bundles (19, 21) comprises first and second mounting bases (13a, 13b) and there is an axial fixation device inside each base, and there is an alignment sleeve (15) which is made of elastic material and which is positioned inside each base. Each alignment sleeve has an axial slot in its wall. Lateral alignment and correct orientation of the light beams is assured by this device. The ends of the glass fibres (19, 21) are bolted together in the sleeve (15), whose internal diameter is equal to the outside diameters of the bundles of fibres, so that the bundles are held rigidly in place.
