Abstract

Treatment is by the circulation of warm water in contact with the epidermis of the patient, and means are included for regulating the water temperature. Regulation is controlled by a heartbeat detector, reducing the temperature when the heartbeat rate exceeds a preset level. The regulation system can include an indicator board and a control giving cyclic variation of temperature to suit the constitution and treatment of the patient. It can have a reader unit for use in conjunction with a punched card or magnetic tape providing treatment data, programming the treatment cycle automatically, and also the monitoring of the heartbeats, to suit the patient.
