Abstract
Catalyst complexes for selective dimerisation of diolefins into linear compsns. are made by reacting a salt or coordination complex of divalent Ni with an alkali metal phosphide in an non-hydroxylated medium, followd by the addn. of a hydroxylated substrate. The catalysts have high specificity and are esp. useful for dimerisation of butadiene into octatriene-1,3,6 (OT-136) and octatriene-1,3,7 (OT-137).
