Abstract

The defoliating machine, which is tractor-towed, consists of a chassis and a hydrostatic crosswise moving device adjusting the chassis at right angles and crosswise to the forward direction of the tractor. The chassis has a beam on which are mounted a pair of tubular segments on a horizontal pivot axis at right angles to the direction of travel. Compressed air is supplied from a compressed air source through the tubular segments into a pipe. The pipe has a drive pulley driven by a belt from another drive pulley fixed to the drive shaft of a motor. Each pipe segment has its free end bent at right angles, parallel to the pipe, and ends in a conical or Venturi nozzle. The chassis has a centering device for driving along the rows of vines.
