Abstract

A water space heating system contains a heater and a pump (3). The piping is taken through one side of an indirect heat exchanger (4), the other side of which has piping (5) containing a pump (6) joining two well separated parts (7, 8) of a natural underground water filled fissure. When heat is available from the heater (2) it is transferred through the heat exchanger to the water in the natural fissure which is large enough to store it at comparatively low temperatures. At times of demand both flows are reversed and heat is put back into the space heating circuit. The use of the indirect heat exchanger avoids any contamination of the natural water in the fissure.
