Abstract
The casing carries a tail unit with stabilising fins. A metal tube fits axially down the casing, the space between being packed with explosive and shrapnel. A plunger can slide inside the tube and is normally retracted in this for storage, a protective cap being fitted. When fired the gases from the charge enter holes at the rear and pass into the end of the tube, behind the plunger. After a delay to reach a predetermined pressure the plunger moves forward and extends through the nose, priming the detonator. On contacting the target, the plunger retracts and fires the charge.
