Abstract

The detector comprises a mass (1) freely mounted in a housing (2) elongated in the sensitive direction, parallel to the direction in which speed variations are to be measured. The housing (2) is sealed and filled with a fluid. The mass is held immobile in its housing until the acceleration exceeds a threshold value. The impact of the mass at the end of the housing is detected (4). A deformable wall may link the body of the housing to a component which carries the retention means and/or the detector, this component being mobile along the sensing axis. The viscous forces during movement of the mass are much greater than the forces acting on the mass due to speed variations.
