Abstract
The vehicle transmission comprises epicyclic gear trains each having coaxial internal and sun wheels engaged by a planet wheel on a rotary planet carrier, brake means for selectively coupling certain components, and clutch means for selectively couping certain components, to vary the overall transmission ratio. The input (1) is connected with three independently operable friction couplings (C1, C2, C3). The driven element of the first coupling (C1) is connected with the sun wheel (S2) of the second train. The planet carrier of this train is connected with the ring wheel (A1) of the first train, with the first brake (B1) and with the driven element of the second coupling (C2). The driven element of the thirs coupling (C3) is connected with the sun wheel (S1) of the first train. The sun wheel (S2) of the second train is connected with the second brake (B2) and the planet carrier (L1) of the first train is connected with the ring wheel (A2) of the second train and with the output (16).
