Abstract

The device can be used with one hand and consists of two blades, one of which is a cutting blade, both ending in arms connected to one another in the form of a cross by a central pin which enables leverage to be obtained by pressure of the hand. It includes a 2-1 reduction effect. The amount of reduction is in terms of the degree to which the arms are opened, a spring hook moving to form a different pivot bearing for large arm separations. In order to obtain a large opening radius, the secateur arms bend outwards and away from each other at their ends. This also ensures that they are large enough to be held in the hollow of the hand when closed.
