Abstract

A paper pulp is de-lignified during a first stage in which it is pre-heated up with a reactive alkaline fluid and a second stage during which the solid matter is treated with an oxidising liquid in the presence of high pressure oxygen gas, the gases produced by the reaction are removed and re-circulated into the system. A good quality pulp producing a strong paper can be achieved with a lower production of toxic gases, thereby requiring simpler and less expensive equipment.
