Abstract

The unit prevents the wheels locking in the event of excessive pressure on the brake pedal, having a first chamber connected to the master cylinder and a second one to the wheel cylinders. The chambers communicate via a first passage controlled by a regulator valve, and a second one controlled by an isolating valve. The latter is normally held open by a rod spring-loaded in the open direction, and thrust in the other direction by a plunger. The second chamber communicates with a discharge via a third passage controlled by a needle valve spring-loaded shut and opened by a solenoid. The springs or other devices acting on the rod are separate from those acting on the needle valve.
