Abstract

Process for grading and cleaning granular material, for example gravel and sand, uses a pump is used to mix the material with water, the mixture then being pumped through successive stages of grading using sieves. The separated material is formed into piles, and the residual fine material is separated from the water by gravity settling and centrifuging. The dried fine material is formed into a pile and the separated water recirculated. During recirculation the water is purified, and an addition of fresh to the system gives a final de-salted product.
