Abstract

Fatty acids and their salts, e.g. oleates, stearates, and palmitates which dissolve in cleaning solvents e.g. trichloroethylene, perchloroethylene, trichloroethane etc. during the dry cleaning of textiles are removed by an ion exchange process using strong base anionic resin such as Amberlite IRA410 (RTM), Dowex2X (RTM) and others. Used for the regeneration of cleaning fluid in the dry cleaning industry. A small quantity of resin is required to regenerate fluid with high efficiency compared with the hitherto conventional method of absorption onto attapulgite clay.
