Abstract
A frame straddles the rows of fruit trees with, at its forward end a defoliator with a fan, for removing some of the leaves from the trees. Workers seated on the machine pick the fruit and drop it onto a steeply sloping platform in two parts, one on each side of the plant stems held closely to the latter by means of springs acting upon the platform framework. The framework is covered by rubberised cloth. The fruit falls by gravity onto a conveyor which elevates it to a centrifuge where any leaves are removed. The fruit is recovered in a container which deposits it onto a swivelling conveyor. The latter can deliver the fruit to an independently towed trailer alongside into a container on the machine itself or into a hopper which empties into a trailer towed by the machine.
