Abstract

A packaging matl. to protect articles against shock damage comprises a substrate (e.g., of cardboard) to which are secured elastic spheres of different dimensions. The packaging matl. is used partic. with glass and furniture but may be used in automobiles or boats. The packaging matl. is cheap to produc e, can conform easily to the shape of the article which it is protecting and provides a good resistance to shock. The spheres may be adhered to a tape such that they completely cover one surface, or may be arranged such that they are in bands extending transversely across the substrate. Alternatively the spheres may be arranged in bands sandwiched between two latex foam substrates.
