Abstract

The mask comprises a rectangle of non-textile material with strings, by which it is held on the user's face, forming extensions of its longer edges. There is a permanent wrinkling (5) for the entire length of the shorter edges of the rectangle (4), thus causing this to belly out clear of the face, so that it can be worn in comfort. The wrinkling can be maintained permanently by needlework, or by a taped hem. Compared with the conventional type of mask incorporating folds running for the entire length, there is no risk of tears occurring along the folds, and the mask can be worn without discomfort for long periods.
