Abstract

The solenoid operated valve is for use in cryogenic systems. The guide tube of the valve actuating ram is made longer than the solenoid coil, which does not completely enclose it. The ram itself is made in three parts, the magnetic portion, a central connecting rod and the valve head. The central portion is made of a poor heat conductor and also of smaller diameter than the guide tube, thus almost completely isolating the valve head f rom the heat source. The valve body has two ports leading to a central chamber in which there is a valve set.
