Abstract

A double ply fabric is woven with pref. the plies joined together along one edge and with a tying filament inserted in both plies in the warp direction along the other edge. At spaced transverse zones the two plies are joined together by the weft yarns and the fabric is cut along the median line of the zones to form separate socks. The cut ends of the filaments inserted in each sack are fused together to form a tie around the mouth of the sack. The sacks are used for vegetables partic. potatoes. The insertion of a tying filament (which is thicker than the other yarns used for weaving) is simpler by inserting it in the warp direction than by inserting it in the weft direction which is conventional. The tying filament is also inserted more uniformly.
