Abstract
23,960. Pateson, H. C. Dec. 12. Sacks and like bays, weaving; strengthened fabrics with integrally-woven portions having crammed, thicker, or stronger yarns.-A case or cover for pillows, cushions, &c. comprises a seamless bag b open at one end and provided with a border of solid or single fabric on two, three, or all four sides thereof. A number of such cases are formed in a strip and then separated by cutting along lines f. The fabric is first woven solid as at a across the full width of the loom, and the warp is then separated, with the exception of a strip d, into two sheds, so that two separate portions b, c of fabric are woven. The warp threads are then brought together to form the portion e, and the process is repeated. The selvedge round the open end g of the cases may be strengthened by employing stronger, stouter, or an increased number of warp threads in that neighbourhood. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 5323/86.
